Pilgrim Pupils Discover What the Future Could Hold.

Year 5 and 6 pupils started to consider what the big, wide world could have in store for them as they get older and move beyond Pilgrim Academy.

Laura Raby Anderson, Higher Education Student Recruitment Manager and her colleague Ailsa, delivered a fantastic workshop whereby pupils discovered all about the wider opportunities that are open to them (when they are older) at the University Campus North Lincolnshire situated in Scunthorpe. From Animal Welfare Science to Business Management, pupils listened attentively to what it takes to succeed and achieve your aspirations.

Mrs Ireson, year 6 teacher who organised the workshop, commented: “We are so keen that our pupils discover what opportunities are out there – it is important that they have hopes and dreams for the future.”

During the workshop, pupils shared that they aspire to be vets, authors, illustrators, sports coaches and many, many more excellent professions that are achievable through hard work and determination.

Taylor Sinclair said: “It’s great hear that there are so many opportunities on our doorstep; the university isn’t far away from Immingham – we are so lucky that we may be able to go there in the future.”

After the session Laura Raby Anderson mentioned that she was overwhelmed by the engagement of the pupils and how their exemplary behaviour meant that they got the most out of the afternoon.

Laura has kindly offered for our Upper Key Stage 2 pupils to visit the university campus early next year. Mrs Ireson said: “Forging links with educational providers mean that we can work together to inspire our future generation so they can be the best they can be!”
