Panathlon Multisport Programme

Our Year 4 and 5 children from Dolphins class enjoyed taking part in a Primary Panathlon Multisport event at Clee Fields Sports Centre earlier this month.

The Primary Panathlon programme provides an introduction to Panathlin for 5-11 year olds, through team competition that builds foundation skills in a range of Panathlon sports. Panathlon aims to improve the health and mental well-being for children on the SEN register.

The event was supported by the Panathlon Foundation and sports leaders from Waltham Tollbar Academy lead the event.

The children took part in a carousel of events including parachute popcorn, precision bean bag, new age kurling, boccia blast and flight path. Our nine competitors did the academy proud- we saw some amazing new skills develop and some secret talents revealed! The event was hit with the children, with 10-year-old Oscar Bentley declaring it the best day ever! All the children were presented with medals and certificates for their efforts.

Pilgrim Academy mascot, Hector the Bear, also joined us on the trip and brought us luck! 8-year-old Ashley-Ryan Steenvoorden said, “I loved all the sports but my favourite was throwing the ball at the target.”
