Get Glowing Festival

Blue Whales class had a fantastic time at the North East Lincolnshire School Sports Partnership’s Year 6 ‘Get Glowing’ Festival.

Selected pupils had a great morning participating in eight different fun, non-competitive multi skills activities.

From curling and shuffle boarding to hockey and slalom, the events enabled the pupils to try out many different skills linked to different sports.

All of the events were carried out in the dark; lit with only bright neon lights and a disco ball!

Pop music was also streamed into the sports hall, creating an electric atmosphere!

Teacher, Mrs Ireson commented: “When we heard about this fantastic event, we knew our children would enjoy it. They have relished learning many valuable skills too.

It was lovely to see all the different schools coming together to share in such an innovative sporting morning.”

Year 6 pupil, Callum said: “This morning has been so much fun! We are really lucky to have exciting events to go to like this.”

Everyone mentioned how it would be great for the future pupils if the event could happen again next year.

Fellow Academy for Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust, Waltham Toll Bar Academy provided their Year 9 Sports Leaders to help with the event.

They ran each sport station and showed great leadership skills throughout; they were superb role models to younger children.

Principal of Pilgrim Academy, Andrew Clark said: “This was a wonderful event for the students to get involved with. It helps them to develop so many skills, whilst also doing something a little different. We are especially thankful to the Sports Leaders from Waltham Toll Bar Academy who helped the pupils with each sporting event and were supportive throughout.”
