Charity Says Thank You To Our Superhero Fundraisers

Pupils and staff at Pilgrim Academy have received a heartfelt thank you letter from ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ after raising £3391.90 for the charity with a superhero walk.

The donation was only half the cash raised by the event, which was forced to take place indoors last month due to torrential rain. In total, pupils raised more than £6,700, the remainder of which will go towards a Memorial Garden for a much-loved former teacher.

“Wish Upon A Star’ grants the wishes of children living with life threatening illnesses and Regional Fundraiser Alex Byers said: “Every donation we receive brings a child closer to their wish being granted.

“We believe every child deserves to smile and, with your support, we can provide time away, giving children and their families something to look forward to through times of uncertainty, and often financial as well as emotional strain. Wishes allows the family to put their child’s illness on hold as they have fun and create precious memories.”

Andy Clark, Principal of Pilgrim Academy, said he was incredibly grateful to parents and carers for their support of the fundraising event.

“We could not believe how much money we raised with this event and once again I am so grateful to everyone who took part and helped us with two wonderful causes. Thank you.”
