First School Disco will be One of Many

Last week, Pilgrim Academy pupils partied hard to raise money for Comic Relief.

Every year group from nursery to year 6 enjoyed ‘letting their hair down’ by singing and dancing during the Pilgrim’s first ever school disco.

The Student Leadership decided that a school disco would be an excellent way of raising money for Comic Relief since tickets were priced at £2.

Many pupils felt very grown up as the disco happened at the end of the day meaning they ‘donned’ their party clothes at 3.30.

During the disco, pupils were able to choose from a plethora of snacks and drinks that were enjoyed alongside the music.

All treats were kindly donated by Pilgrim Academy parents and grown-ups.

Mrs Joanne Ireson, Student Leadership Coordinator commented: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by parents.

It really does show that they wanted the children to have a great disco experience.”

Summer-Mai Parker, Year 6 pupil, said: “It would be great if discos became a regular part of our school year.

The build-up to the disco was so exciting; we all enjoyed every second of it! Plus, we raised so much money for a worthy cause.”

All Pilgrim Academy teachers want to say a huge thank you to the Student Leadership Team for organising such a great event – they really are all party planners in the making!

In total £458 was raised for Comic Relief, so an even bigger thank you goes out to our wider Pilgrim family for supporting each and every event that we hold.
